I Create Soul-Sanctuaries

I paint intimate, nature-soaked soul-sanctuaries where dreamlike beauty holds space for quiet reflection, inner transformation, and the coexistence of unruly, passionate emotion. My work invites viewers into quiet, contemplative spaces—gardens, waterscapes, and open impressionistic and abstracted dreamscapes—where the gentle and the wild live side by side inside the same moment. In these paintings, I’m always searching for that tender threshold where solace, longing, and untamed feeling can all breathe together.

"Morning's Blush" catches the world right as it’s waking up: a soft bridge over still water, trees and blooms glowing in tender pinks and golds, beckoning you toward new beginnings, realignment and fresh starts. At first glance, it’s a romantic garden moment—lilies, reflections, gentle light. Underneath that easy beauty, this painting is really about the first honest breath of the day, before the to‑do lists and roles rush back in. It’s a sanctuary for the quiet promises you make to yourself in those early hours, when everything feels possible and your heart is a little more honest. This piece holds that fragile, hopeful in‑between and keeps reminding you to take these moments for yourself, long after the morning has passed.

"Where the Sunset Listens" gathers deep colors around a curved waterway and mirror‑still pond, where sky and water trade places. It looks, at first, like a romantic end‑of‑day scene—warm light, fading blooms, the hush that arrives just before dark. But to me it is also a home for all the thoughts that catch up with you when the day finally slows down. The reflections in the water echo the way your own mind loops back over conversations, choices, and what‑ifs. This piece doesn't demand answers. Instead, it offers a soft, beautiful space to sit with your questions, letting them glow for a while in that last light before night.

“Tranquil Awakening” rests on the edge between night and day, with a Torri Gate beckoning you toward enlightenment, through calm water, and trees just beginning to catch the light — a peaceful garden pond—serene, balanced, inviting. It is not concerned with art rules of perspective, only perspective in terms of feelings. On a deeper level for me, it’s about those inner awakenings that happen quietly, without fanfare. The kind where no one else knows something has shifted, but you feel it. This painting is a sanctuary for new beginnings that don’t look dramatic on the outside: a soft re‑choosing of yourself, a decision to heal, a small but real step toward a life that feels more like you. It doesn’t shout your transformation; it honors it in a whisper.

“Sanctuary Where Dreams Take Root” invites you into a tranquil world where vibrant blooms and lush greenery gently intertwine in a dreamlike cocoon. Delicate pink lotuses rise from the water, embodying both serene stillness and courageous growth. This piece endeavors to capture the essence of nature’s quiet resilience, evoking a sense of peace, reflection, and inner renewal in the moonlit transformation hours. For me, it expresses a reminder of the deep harmony found in the natural world—and like the lotus, the courage it takes to push through the mud of life and become who we are meant to be. Painting this piece was also the first time I began to recognize that maybe I really was an artist.

"Dragon Tree Reverie" was inspired by me lying on my back, looking up at the sky through the exotic Dragon Trees in the gardens of Lotusland.  The sun pierced through their long, pointy leaves, creating a feeling of stars being silhouetted against the sky. This painting evolved into a lush, almost storybook garden—bright flowers, playful palms, a winding path leading to a giant clam shell fountain. It’s the kind of scene that feels immediately decorative—playful, whimsical and joyful, like a dream vacation for your wall. But there’s another layer here for me: that bending path and layered foliage echo the way we move through our own inner landscapes, never seeing the whole journey at once. This piece is a sanctuary for curiosity and courage, dreaming and indulging in whimsey too— a reminder that we’re allowed to wander without rules, to not have everything mapped out and defined, and revel in the beauty that surrounds us along the way.

“Blue Garden Oasis”gathers succulents, vines, and a winding stone path into one lush, enclosed world, a lovely garden corner, easy to enjoy at first glance. Cool blues and greens brush up against warm peach walls and filtered light, creating a space that feels both alive and protected. I imagined myself a small ant meandering through this exotic succulent and cactus garden, dwarfed by the beauty towering around me. From that perspective, we're forced to look a little longer, a little deeper. For me, it becomes a portrait of resilience: plants thriving in challenging locations, sometimes jammed together with little space, life spilling over edges, softness pushing through structure. This painting is a haven for anyone who has had to grow in less‑than‑perfect conditions and still found a way to become something quietly and beautifully extraordinary.

“Pillow Talk” looks like the perfect backyard gathering spot—soft cushions, a glowing firepit, dappled sunlight through the trees.  It’s the kind of place people imagine for laughter and wine and easy conversation.  But for me, this scene is also about the quieter talks that happen when the guests leave: the confessions whispered in the low light, the truths you only say when you feel safe enough, the sound of the waves in the background whisking away your words into the air.  Sometimes it's a cherished best friend or lover, and sometimes it's a whispered discussion with God in the pages of a journal. This painting holds space for both: the joy of connection and the honest, vulnerable words that only come out when you’re finally off-stage and no one is watching.

"Where the Heart Rests" is a quiet corner for the parts of you that are tired of holding everything together for everyone else. On the surface, it's an inviting garden chair under an arch of blooms, but underneath the color and comfort is a gentle permission to stop checking off our lists, running at mach speed to meet the needs of all those who depend upon us, and take a quiet moment, let our shoulders drop, take a breath, relax, and just be. It's about that quiet corner we all crave—the place where we stop performing, sit down, and remember who we are when no one needs anything from us. When I painted this, I was remembering those precious moments and spaces where I just breathe in my own company again.

“Autumn’s Muffled Siren” leads you down a quiet woodland path, wrapped in the softened glow of gold and embered orange. The trees lean in like old confidants, their leaves, buffeted around in the wind like your thoughts and musings, whispering a gentle call to slow your pace and let the outside world fall away for a moment. To the outside observer, the stunningly display of fall colors might seem like a siren, but this is Autumn not as spectacle, but as sanctuary—a place where the season’s bright fire turns inward, inviting you to listen for the quieter siren of your own heartbeat, your own thoughts. It's a soft, steady reminder that you’re allowed to step off the main road, even briefly, and rest inside your own company.

I paint intimate, nature‑soaked soul‑sanctuaries where dreamlike beauty holds space for quiet reflection, inner transformation, and the coexistence of unruly, passionate emotion. Through gardens, waterscapes, and abstracted dreamscapes, my work invites viewers into contemplative spaces where the gentle and the wild inhabit the same moment. I am continually seeking that fragile threshold where solace, longing, and untamed feeling can breathe together, offering viewers a refuge that is as emotionally charged as it is serene.
